As of January 1, 2024, the minimum wage for officially employed workers in Poland has increased. According to the decision of the Polish government, the minimum hourly rate has also been raised. This is the first of two planned increases for this year.
This year, Poland will see two increases in the minimum wage—on January 1 and July 1.
The government has decided that the minimum wage will rise to 4,242 PLN gross at the start of 2024, and to 4,300 PLN starting July 1. At the same time, the minimum hourly rate will increase to 27.70 PLN as of January 1 and to 28.10 PLN as of July 1.
How Much is the Net Salary in Poland in 2024?
With the minimum salary increasing to 4,242 PLN gross from January 2024, the net amount will be slightly less than 3,200 PLN. In July, when the gross amount rises to 4,300 PLN, the net salary will be around 3,260 PLN.
The minimum wage from January 1, 2024, is set at 4,242 PLN gross, which is an increase of 752 PLN (21.5%) compared to the previous amount of 3,490 PLN before the increase. Recall that the last increase in the minimum wage in Poland occurred on January 1, 2023.
The increase in the minimum wage to 4,300 PLN starting July 1, 2024, represents an increase of 700 PLN (19.4%) compared to the previous amount established on July 1, 2023 (3,600 PLN).
Minimum Gross Hourly Rates in 2024:
- As of January 1, 2023 — 22.80 PLN
- As of July 1, 2023 — 23.50 PLN
- As of January 1, 2024 — 27.70 PLN
- As of July 1, 2024 — 28.10 PLN
The increase in the minimum hourly rate to 28.10 PLN as of July 1, 2024, represents an increase of 4.6 PLN compared to July 1, 2023, or 19.5%.
How Much is the Net Minimum Wage for Workers?
The net amount, or the take-home pay after deductions for social security contributions, health insurance, and income tax advances, will be lower. For instance, with a minimum wage of 4,242 PLN gross in January 2024, an employee will receive approximately 3,221.98 PLN net. With a gross salary of 4,300 PLN in July, the net amount will be around 3,261.53 PLN.
Impact on Other Payments
The increase in the minimum wage in Poland will also affect other payments. The rise in salaries will directly impact all financial aspects. Along with the minimum wage, the lowest basic benefit for temporary disability payments (sick leave) will increase proportionally according to the new minimum wage, depending on the number of employees working on a full-time basis (FTE).
